Release Notes

The continued development of SUM3D allows the continuous release of new features and improvements that take into account changes in the development process of products and the market needs. This section is dedicated to the presentation of all the changes made to the software.

ADDED SMOOTIHING PARAMETER WITH ANGLE ROTATION

This new option increases the quality and accuracy of the toolpath by softening the edges with a connected movement. If necessary, the tool will be repositioned following a spline. The user can enter a distance from this spline and a minimum angle of use. The interpolation distance is automatically defined in order to have a uniform pass with the following ones.

CONTOURING

The new contouring is highly automated and efficient; it creates a softened path so that it is uniform on the workpiece

MSCHINING USING A BARREL TOOL

Possibility to work in “parallel passes” strategy with barrel tools

TILT TOOL SIDEWAYS FROM THE POINT

This new option allows you to tilt the tilting axis with respect to the point of contact with the working surface.

AUTOMATIC TILTING AXES INCLINATION WITH BARREL TOOLS:

Possibility of automatic tilting of the tilting axis even when using barrel tools.

GEODESIC STRATEGY OPTIMIZATION

New management in the “geodesic” strategy; the toolpath is calculated with a smooting on the edges in order to make the passes more uniform.

NEW FINISHING CYCLE

New finishing cycles have been added to multi-axis machining: one for surfaces with different inclination and one for flat surfaces. Both cycles can also be used with barrel tools.

AUTOMATIC TILTING DURING COLLISION CHECK

The new automatic tool inclination management when there is a collision is managed by a new calculation algorithm that controls and changes the rotation angle of the tool with respect to the workpiece.
