The continued development of SUM3D allows the continuous release of new features and improvements that take into account changes in the development process of products and the market needs. This section is dedicated to the presentation of all the changes made to the software.


In the FINISHING strategies, both with constant Z and constant cusp, the possibility to increment the the side step in elicoidal way has been added, in order to uniform the feedrate and then the quality of suface fi nishing without leave any tool trace on the workpiece.


The ROTARY MACHINE strategy allows to make the most of the machines tool with rotating axis, making possible the increase of productivity on all cylindric parts that need continuos machinings, both in roughing than fi nishing. Thanks to this higly automated machining, the toolpath creation is even more simply and fast.


The ADAPTIVE roughing machining is a new milling method that work with a different svuotamento method, making the machining more perfoming and effi cient. The toolpath is developing from outside to inside, through fl uid and uniform movements, granting a bog area around the tool in order to have the right area for the chip evacuation. This also allows to make the most of all new technologies of the high speed machine tools end the related toolls available on the market.


In the new machining strategies, it is possible to define various OVERSIZES to leave on the workpiece, specifying a value referred to the flat area and another one for the other area of the object you are machining. In the roughing strategy is is also possible to split an area in group of surfaces and associate them a different oversize vale, allowing to create a cutomize toolpath without change the workpiece geometry.


This is a new strategy that allows a complete usage of an additional ROTATING AXIS in order to creat fi nishing toolpath with better quality. This strategy can generate machining on any kind of surfaces, being able to choose between movement around or parallel to an axis, using al cutting area of the tool, reducing the milling time.


The new HIGH SPEED feature, computes the toolpath on big and complex worpieces, reducing considerably the time of calculation, even if you do not have powerful hardware (PC). Moreover, in the fi nishing machining the distribution of control point on the toolpath has been changed in order to optimize and ?sweeten? the machine movement exploiting the new high speed technologies.
